Neil Downes, 20, known to his friends as Tony, died whilst serving his country in Afghanistan on 9th
June 2007. He was from Manchester and until 2003 attended Middleton Technology School.
Our friend Tony was one of the nicest guys you could ever wish to meet. He never had a bad word to
say and got on with everyone. Always laughing and joking, he brought a smile to the face of everyone
who knew him. He will be remembered forever and sorely missed by everyone who knew him. rest in
peace Tony xxx

It's so sad that such a young, strong man could be taken away doing what he must have loved doing. My heart go's out to those left wondering 'why him'.
It is so sad to hear that you lost Tony whilst he was fighting for his country and ours.
